Omolayo James, the wife of Ogun gas station owner, Oluwafemi James, has told how her husband was killed by men wearing military uniforms at his gas station in the Ifo region of the state .
Oluwafemi was killed at his gas station, Osofem Oil and Gas, located at the Nitel bus stand in Ifo, Ogun State, at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 6.
The incident happened days after the station opened to much fanfare.
A nephew of the man, who identified himself as Harbee, had explained that the men, who were all dressed in military camouflage, stormed the gas station, shot Femi in the head and drove off with his car, marked EKY903GZ.
It was discovered that the deceased man’s Toyota Corolla was later found in Obada Oko area in Abeokuta.
Speaking to The PUNCH, the woman demanded justice as police said they were investigating the case.
“Sunday around six I called him and he told me he was in Ifo, his new gas station was open last week on Thursday. He told me he had been there to monitor the business being new. Around eight o’clock I tried his number, thinking he was on the road, but he was unreachable,” she said.
“So I was looking after the kids because my baby is ‘strong’ (sick) and has a temperature. Around 10:30 p.m., I went upstairs to drop off the baby, when I got back, I saw like three missed calls on my phone from one of my husband’s friends who is called Mr Gbenga, I was scared because it is unusual that he calls like that. I called back and he told me to come to Ifo. I asked him what happened, he just told me to come to Ifo.
On how the husband was killed, she said: “They asked him to get in the car, so he got in and later ran away, so they started chasing him until he falls, that’s where they killed him.”
